Why is My Payment Pending or Delayed on Switchn?

Switchn relies on external payment services like MTN Mobile Money and Orange Money to confirm some payments. During provider delays or peak usage, a payment or transaction can remain pending longer than usual.


What to do if your payment is pending


  1. Do not start a second payment for the same transaction while the first payment is still pending.
  2. Open the Switchn app, go to History, and check the status of the affected transaction.
  3. If it has been pending for a long time, contact support with one proof item: the transaction/reference ID, the full payment SMS text, or a clear screenshot/receipt.


What support will check


Support will check whether MTN Mobile Money or Orange Money confirmed the payment, whether the transaction is still pending, completed, failed, or needs manual follow-up.


Never share your PIN, OTP, password, card number, CVV, or any other secret code.
